Living Local: Made in TN & Pick TN Programs

The goal of the Made in Tennessee program is to support the Volunteer State’s manufacturing community by raising awareness of the products made in this great state and providing resources to help Tennessee’s manufactures grow.

The Made in Tennessee program, started in 2013, is a completely free, membership program that allows registered members to have a profile in a manufacturing directory on www.madeintn.org, through which other businesses and customers can locate information about products and services. The program’s members also have the ability to utilize the service-marked Made in Tennessee logo on their products and packaging. Only Manufacturers with NAICS codes 31-33 (excluding 311 and 312 food producers) with a facility in Tennessee, where they produce a product, can register for the program.

Similar to the Made in Tennessee program, the Pick Tennessee Program (PTP) is focused on promoting food manufacturers and growers. PTP is a part of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. They are a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to connecting Tennessee farms, farmers, farmers markets, and all of the wonderful things that came from these food businesses, families, and farms, to people everywhere.

At the moment, Pick Tennessee helps customers to find approximately 2,500 individual Tennessee farmers and farm-direct business. These farmers and businesses list almost 10,000 farm products! Farmers and producers of fresh agricultural products as well as owners of restaurants that sell both fresh and local agricultural products are eligible for membership of the PTP program. For more information on the PTP or if you meet the criteria listed above please go to http://www.picktnproducts.org/about_us.html
